PhD candidate Georgios Georgiadis obtained the academic grade of PhD in Business Economics on 13 June 2024, defending his thesis ‘GDPR compliance in big data analytics : a holistic approach for data protection impact assessment’. Prof. dr. Geert Poels and Prof. dr. Frederik Gailly of UGent Business Informatics were his supervisors.

Members of the Doctoral Advisory Committee, apart from the supervisors, were Dr. Dariusz Kloza (Human Rights Center, Ghent University) and Prof. dr. Seppe vanden Broucke (UGent Business Informatics). Prof. dr. Patricia Everaert (Dept. Accounting, UGent) was Chair of the Examination Committee, which included, apart from the members of the Doctoral Advisory Committee, Dr. Kim Wuyts (PwC Belgium) and Prof. dr. Vagelis Papakonstantinou (Law Faculty, VUB), who attended the ceremony online.

The UGent Business Informatics research group congratulates Dr. Georgiadis for this exceptional achievement, being a non-funded external student for many years, and wishes him all the best as affiliated post-doctoral researcher and fellow at Skövde University, Sweden.
